On the occasion of the 50th birthday of \u201cDie Maus\u201d, numerous special episodes are being filmed this year. In this context, \u201cDie Sendung mit der Maus\u201d also visited the\u00a0Urban Mining and Recycling (UMAR) housing and research unit of the Swiss research institute Empa at \u201cNEST\u201d in D\u00fcbendorf near Zurich in Switzerland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the middle of June, NEST Innovation Manager Enrico Marchesi invited Prof. Dirk E. Hebel and Sandra B\u00f6hm from the Professorship of Sustainable Construction to present the housing unit, the building materials used there, and the construction and material concept to the viewers of the \u201cSendung mit der Maus\u201d after a brief welcome. The Urban Mining and Recycling Unit of the EMPA is still one of a few lighthouse projects of circular construction. Many innovative, forward-looking construction techniques are used in exemplary applications, which allow the sorted disassembly and the later reuse of all used materials. The unit was created in 2017 by Werner Sobek with Dirk E. Hebel and Felix Heisel, Bernd K\u00f6hler and Frank Heinlein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ralph, Jana, Sihan, Andr\u00e9 from \u201cDie Sendung mit der Maus\u201d, Prof. Dirk E. Hebel, Sandra B\u00f6hm and Enrico Marchesi were present for the filming session in the Urban Mining and Recycling Unit at NEST at EMPA in D\u00fcbendorf, Switzerland. The programme will be broadcast as a special episode as part of the Mouse\u2019s 50th birthday events in August 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
