HOME II
Robotic manufacturing of wood–mycelium composites for scalable circular building systems

HOME II advances the previously developed wood–mycelium composite system by integrating mycelium growth into a robotic, additive manufacturing process. The project enables automated production of bio-based components by combining 3D wood lattice fabrication with digitally controlled deposition of living mycelium substrates. It develops new joining systems, material gradation strategies, and scalable fabrication workflows for CO₂-neutral, acoustic lightweight partition systems. Mechanical, acoustic, and structural performance are validated through experiments and simulations, while circular value chains and digital design tools support industrial upscaling.
