Transdisciplinary analysis and piloting of serial renovation strategies that maximize the urban mining principle for skeleton buildings from the 1960s to the 1980s

The UMiSeSa research explores how circular‑economy principles can be integrated into serial renovation concepts for existing buildings. The main goal is to reduce CO2-Emissions according to LCA and energy demand. A two‑storey facade pilot on the KIT South Campus tests the approach using natural, regional materials and incorporating reused components. The project includes a detailed building analysis, pollutant assessment, and heating‑season monitoring. Results will form a practical guideline and evaluate extension potential, supporting scalable, resource‑efficient transformation of building stock.
